Registered Physiotherapist

Snehal Patel migrated to Canada in 2007with his parents just after finishing his bachelor of physiotherapy program from India. It was not an easy path of settling in Canada being in a new country and new environment for neither his parents and nor Snehal. His first breakthrough in his career was working as a physiotherapy assistant at one of the long-term care. Meanwhile, he was offered a bridging program for Internationally trained physiotherapist by the government of Ontario which he graduated from Ryerson University in 2009 – 2010. He successfully completed written component of Physiotherapy Competency Examination (PCE) in 2011 and clinical component (Physiotherapy National Exam)in 2012 while working part-time as a resident physiotherapist in OHIP (The Ontario Health Insurance Plan) clinic.

After becoming registered physiotherapist, he worked in long-term care facilities with municipality of Chatham-Kent, Waterloo and Peel region. During this time, he also obtained registration for assistive device program (ADP) by ministry of health and long-term care. This program allows him to access the funding to Ontario residents who have long-term physical disabilities and to provide access to personalized assistive devices for seating and mobility i.e. wheelchairs and walkers.

His passion of teaching and constantly staying in touch with academics, he started teaching physiotherapy clinical skills to internationally trained physiotherapist at his partner institution in 2015. The institution – ‘Atmiya PCE Prep’ became famous in very short time and has trained almost more than 200 internationally trained physiotherapist to help them achieve success in license examination and allow to practice as a registered physiotherapist in Canada.

Currently, Snehal is an independent contractor to provide physiotherapy rehab services atlong-term care and convalescent-care facility of 150 beds In Brampton, Ontario. He supervises two physiotherapy assistants and a restorative aid working under his directions. He is also a mentor to resident physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistant students.

Since the inception of his career, he has been working with the aged population which assisted him to grow in the Geriatric Physiotherapy. His constant curiosity to improve quality of care foraging population, he is currently pursuing McMaster University accredited geriatric certificate program.

Besides working, Snehal enjoys spending time with his familyand volunteering in community events.
